Creating a faux stove Range with Storage

Creating a faux stove range over your cabinets is a great way to maximize storage while adding a stylish touch to your kitchen. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Materials Needed:

  • Wood or plywood for the faux range ( I used Revolutionply ) because its flexible
  • Paint or wood stain (used Ebony)
  • Shelf brackets (I used (2) 2x4 cut down)
  • pine board for spice rack
  • Measuring tape
  • Level
  • Drill and screws
  • Sandpaper
  • Finish (optional, like polyurethane)

Steps:

  1. Measure the Space:

    • Measure the area above your cabinets where the faux stove will go. Note the height, width, and depth.
  2. Design Your Faux Range:

    • Sketch out the design, including the size and placement of the spice rack. Decide if you want any additional features like a faux backsplash.
  3. Cut the Wood:

    • Cut your wood or plywood to size for the main surface of the faux range and any additional pieces for the spice rack.
  4. Sand the Edges:

    • Smooth all edges and surfaces with sandpaper to avoid splinters.
  5. Paint or Stain:

    • Apply your chosen paint or wood stain to the wood. Allow it to dry completely.
  6. Install Support:

    • If the faux range will be wide, consider installing shelf brackets under it for extra support. Secure them to the cabinets below.
  7. Attach the Faux Stove:

    • Position the cut piece for the faux range above the cabinets, ensuring it’s level. Secure it in place with screws if necessary.
  8. Add the Spice Rack:

    • Attach the spice rack to the front of the faux stove or mount it directly on the wall above it. If using jars, fill them with spices and label them for easy access.
  9. Finishing Touches:

    • If desired, apply a finish like polyurethane for durability. Add decorative items or kitchen accessories on top of the faux range to enhance its appearance.
  10. Organize and Enjoy:

    • Arrange your spices and any other storage items in the new space. Enjoy your stylish and functional kitchen upgrade!

  11. Adding a hinge (optional): you can use any style hinge you'd like. I attached this to the piece of ply wood then the top of the cabinets.

Tips:

  • Consider using magnetic spice jars for a fun, modern look.

This faux stove range will not only provide additional storage but will also enhance your kitchen's aesthetic!
